Why Bahtera Usaha

What makes these programmes worth the time

Taught before decisions are made

The programmes are designed to be taken at the planning stage, not after a costly mistake has already been made.

Grounded in Malaysia's trading context

Case material is drawn from real sectors in Melaka and the wider Malaysian economy — not translated from foreign curricula.

Small cohorts, deliberate pacing

Cohort sizes are capped so that discussion is possible and faculty know each participant's situation well enough to give useful observations.

Precise scope, no hidden extras

Each programme states exactly what is included — sessions, templates, reviews, reports — so participants know what they are enrolling in.

Honest about poor fit

Each programme includes a plain note on when it is not a good fit. A business in acute cash difficulty, for example, needs different help than study.

A decision not to proceed is a valid outcome

If a participant works through the material and concludes the timing is wrong, the faculty treats that as a useful result — not a failure.

Next Steps

Not sure which programme fits your situation?

Send a short note describing where your business is and what you are working through. Someone from the faculty will read it and suggest where to begin — or note if none of the current programmes is the right fit.

Common Questions

Questions about the programmes

Who are the programmes intended for?

Each programme has a different audience. The first is for people still in the planning stage before opening. The second is for businesses that are already buying or selling across borders, or intend to. The third is for owners and senior managers of businesses that have been operating for some time and are working through larger questions of direction and leadership.

Can I attend more than one programme?

Yes, though the programmes are not designed as a sequence. Some participants attend the first and later the third as their business develops. If you are considering more than one, mention this in your enquiry and the faculty can discuss the order that would make most sense.

What is the language of instruction?

English is the primary language of instruction, with discussions accommodating Bahasa Malaysia where participants prefer. Written materials are in English.

When do programmes run and where?

Sessions take place at the Bahtera Usaha premises at No. 31, Jalan Merdeka, Taman Melaka Raya, 75000 Melaka. Programme start dates are announced by intake. Contact us to ask about the next available cohort for a specific programme.

Are the fees covered under any funding or employer contribution scheme?

We can discuss this during the enquiry process. Eligibility and availability of schemes changes and we would rather give you accurate information at the time of enquiry than make commitments that may not hold by the time you enrol.

What happens if I start a programme and my situation changes?

We handle this on a case-by-case basis. If a business emergency or significant personal matter arises mid-programme, contact the faculty directly and we will work out a reasonable path — whether that means a pause or a transfer to a future intake.

Do I receive a certificate upon completion?

Participants who complete all sessions and the required work receive a completion document from Bahtera Usaha. The programmes are not degree-awarding and the certificates are professional development documents rather than academic qualifications.
